I will be a leader in the brain cancer community to create change for Rory

Rory and I at A Sliver of Silver. Always such a fabulous day, and I love how it brings the community together and raises awareness and funds - all whilst having fun!

But oh so much work that goes into it for months leading up to the event. Hours upon hours of computer work, emailing, phonecalls, following up people/businesses re: donations and services. Driving all over town and greater bellarine collecting donations, the last minute panic of have I done everything?!

I am really looking forward to Connor's Run this Sunday - just getting out there and doing what I do well - running! With Rory to scoot along beside (or probably in front!) of me :)

I'm fundraising for Rory and all the families affected by brain cancer.

This is my 7th year doing Connor's Run. My 7th year that brain cancer has been a daily part of our lives. No, I don't have it, but my 10 year old son Rory does - an incurable version. Like many of you, I would do anything to take that away from him so that he might have the bright future he deserves. But I can't.

So instead I run. And I fund raise. And I make noise. And I hope that I am part of the change that needs to happen to ensure that Rory, and all of the children so unfairly afflicted with brain cancer are in with a fighting chance. To live for many years. To not struggle so hard. To not live with permanent - often invisible - disabilities. For the children who ran out of time, my heart breaks for them and their families.

I know we as a society and community can do so much more. Please consider joining our team - you don't have to run. You can walk, read, ride, bake, lift weights....you name it! If not, a small donation will go a long way. But just as importantly - start a conversation today - with your Partner, Mum, Dad, Neighbour, Friend, Colleague...about how severe brain cancer is and the devastation is wreaks on families.
