We're fundraising for brain matters!

We are taking inspiration from some brave people.

Jean Mitchell was only 16 years old when she discovered a 4cm medulloblastoma in her brain. She underwent grueling chemo-therapy, chewing through lollipops to hide the metallic taste. Every round of therapy like a 500m row, she went courageously into her horrible battle with cancer.

In her final year of school, her tumor formally went into remission. Now, she's in the Olympic Women's Four rowing event representing Australia.

We hear stories like that and are taken aback by the resolve, the grit, the determination.

Nothing is as difficult as that, but we still want to do something tough to contribute to the research that enabled heroes like Jean to step up to the national stage and make us all proud.

That’s why – at 5:15 am on 26th October – we are taking on the challenge of running 80km each from Bondi to Manly for The RCD Foundation. Cancer has rippled through our lives and we are touched by the spirit of those affected. The RCD Foundation shares our values and works tirelessly to help children who are affected by brain cancer.

We are not particularly talented runners – we are just three mates trying to push ourselves and help a cause that has deeply affected our families. So, we’re hoping for (and in need of) a bit of luck.

Consider joining our training journey in any way you can. Donate to our page, drop us a message with your own story, consider Jean's story for yourself, or even join us at the finish line for a victory bevvy(s!) (that Stone & Wood is going to hit different).

We are incredibly grateful for all your support and encouragement.

Cheers,

Tingey, Alder and Thatch
