Hugh's world turned upside down in late 2022 when, at just seven, he received a brain tumour diagnosis. While his future is bright, recovery has been a long journey.
That's where music therapy stepped in, thanks to our Music Matters Grants! In-home music therapy sessions helped Hugh with his rehabilitation after treatment. Music can be such a powerful tool for healing, and we're so happy to support young fighters like Hugh.
Hugh loved these music sessions with therapist, Megan. when he was struggling with most other activities (including school). It gave him something to look forward to each week.
His mum Sarah said she is extremely grateful that music therapy sessions were available to Hugh.
“I was honoured when Hugh was granted the sessions, and it was the first I'd ever heard of RCD Foundation. I couldn't have been more grateful that RCDF exists.”
Fast forward to now, Hugh is able to walk good distances again (not quite up to running just yet!), and he has decided to walk Connor's Run this year.
Hugh enjoys making things to help with his fundraising efforts, and this year for Connor’s Run he has made a set of "brainy bookmarks" (his drawings, words, fonts and colours).
You can get your very own bookmark when you donate at least $20 to his FUNdraising page.
